Tavira

Tavira is located in the eastern portion of the Algarve, where the sandy, flat beaches sit upon islands and sandbars. Mudflats, ideal for breeding, group together to create protected bird sanctuaries. In the centre of this peaceful area, the port town of Tavira displays Roman relics in its river crossings, numerous churches over 200 years old, and exceptional tile work, roofing and doorways from the same historical period. The exquisite homes and buildings of Tavira have led many to the opinion that it is the most picturesque town in all of the Algarve.

The town is known for fresh seafood dining, serving a variety of freshly caught and grilled fish at the many outdoor dockside cafes.
