Olhão Attractions

Roman Ruins
Discovered in an excavation in 1876, this Roman settlement called Ossonoba was found complete with a temple and pieces of mosaics from as far back as the 2nd century. The ruins are located about 6miles to the north of Olhão, at Milreu.

Mercado dos Pescadores
Set up along the river every Monday thru Saturday from 7am to 2pm, Olhão hosts one of the best food markets in all of the Algarve. Seafood is, of course, a specialty, with shellfish and particularly mussels of especially high quality.
