Penina

The most well known course designed by Sir Henry Cotton, Penina course is made both challenging and beautiful by the 100,000 plus trees planted here. The course is only three miles from Portimão, located on what was once just an empty field. Sir Henry transformed it into the premier golf resort when the game became popular in Portugal in the 1960’s. He personally welcomed golfers from around the world for years, beckoning them to enjoy the course and the luxurious resort. It has recently been renovated and presents as great a challenge to those who play here today as when it was first opened.

Handicap is 36 for women and 28 for men. Reservations are absolutely necessary for the 18 hole course which offers electric trolleys, club rentals, pro shop, bar and restaurant in addition to driving, putting and chipping areas.
