Praia Grande

Just east of Portimão at the fishing town of Ferragudo, Praia Grande features the 16th century St. John’s Castle, now maintained by a private owner. The castle was once part of the defensive plan of Portimão.

At Praia Grande, sailboard rentals are available. Despite a variety of eateries and bars, this beach retains a less tourist-oriented atmosphere than some of the others in the area.
